From the limited experience gained in the treatment of patients in an urban clinic, it is found that offering of financial incentive to patients to promote regularity of attendance is a rewarding procedure in the out-patient treatment of pulmonary TB. If funds permit such a scheme is worth a trial to reduce the defaulter rate and to ensure regularity of supervised drug administration, especially in the early phase of chemotherapy.
