With the medical profession having to deal with
a larger number of TB patients in hospitals and sanatoria, away
from their relatives and home environment, there is a need for a
division of responsibilities between the doctor and the medical
social worker with their respective concentration upon the medical
and psycho-social aspects of illness. The functions of the medical
social worker are different in different settings, a hospital, clinic
or sanatorium. These different functions are elaborated.
